Tuesday April 28

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

I think that many students today find excuses before even trying to complete the work. It's like we just want to do nothing and be okay with it. Sometimes it is good to take breaks, but after those breaks we need to get to work. The teacher is saying that when we do this, we will hurt ourselves in the long run.

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

I didn't do much in this weekend since I took an Advanced Placement Mock Exam for European History. The real exam is in May but we took a practice one so we wouldn't get stressed about it. I took the exam on Sunday afternoon and then I just stayed at home and watched Netflix. I was pretty tired from the week before so I didn't really wanted to do much anyways. The one other thing I did was on Sunday morning. I went around downtown Kansas City and took pictures for my film photography class. The assignment was free choice so I decided to just take pictures of scenery.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement. Elaborate on why you agree of disagree.

If images are on the internet they should be "free game".

I disagree with  that statement. It's not just something you can take. The person who took or worked with the image should get credit for the work. It wouldn't be right claiming it for yourself.

Reflection of my resume website.

I think my website was good but I could have worked more in Photoshop to create a better design for my title on the page. I feel like mine wasn't the worst in the class and it wasn't the best. I could have done better. There are certain characteristics that I could have done  better. I thought mine was presentable to get a job but I would need a better website to be more successful.

What's the coolest thing you've learned in Web Design so far? Why is it so cool and how can it help you in the future?

The coolest thing I have learned was how to code websites to make it look better. It's cool since not a lot of people know how to perfectly code items to make everything look nice. It can help me in the future for a online job resume and I would just have a website for it to further express who I am.

Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design? Explain yourself.

The definition of user experience is the overall experience of someone using a website or application like how easy it is to use. It relates to web design since we have the opportunities to enhance user satisfaction by improving the usability, ease of use, and happiness it provides from the user and the product.

What is a resume website? What do people put on resume websites. Spend about 5-10 minutes looking up resume websites and what they are used for. Explain what you find. Include an image of a resume website if possible.

A resume website is a creative and unique way to feature your resume. You can give yourself a professional appearance online and you can share your resume, portfolio, and accomplishments to anyone who wants to see it. An online resume gives you more control over first impressions and who you are instead of just what you've done.

What are you doing for Spring Break?

I'm going to Galveston, Texas for spring break. We have some family friends that live in Houston. So we get together and rent a beach house or two for a week for break. For the whole break the schedule is usually go to the beach, come home for lunch, and then go back to the beach till we are tired for the night. We already have the whole vacation planned and now we are just waiting to go.

The weather is supposed to be nice and warm which is going to be great for going to the beach.

Tell me about your weekend.

This weekend basically included waking up early on Saturday to go to my sister's soccer game and waking up early on Sunday to lead church with REZ Orchestra and Bells. We lead two services, 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Other than that I did nothing but eat food, watching tv, and watching Grey's Anatomy. Sunday night, I watched the season opener for Sporting KC.

If you were the Principal for a week at BVHS, what would that look like? What changes would you make? Why?

I would change the lunch time and passing periods to make them longer. I would also change the start of school to be either 8:30 a.m. or 9:00a.m. I would change the wifi so it would work in school. It has troubled a lot of students at trying to get work done.

Tell me about your weekend.

This weekend was State for wrestling. Since we had four guys qualify, the managers could go, which means I could go. I missed school all day Thursday and Friday. We drove down to Wichita last Thursday and then arrived at our hotel which was Best Western North Wichita. On Thursday, Mr. Ortman took the managers to Chipotle for dinner since some of the guys couldn't eat dinner to make weight. On Friday, we went to breakfast at the hotel then headed off to the Hartman Arena around 8 a.m. We watched wrestling for the whole day from around 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Before we got back to the hotel, everyone who didn't wrestle went to go pick up Olive Garden. On Saturday, we left the hotel around 8 a.m. after we ate breakfast and packed all of our stuff. The rest of the day was spent again watching more wrestling. We watched close to 500 wrestling matches in two days. Once the wrestling was over, we drove for 30 minutes to get to Braum's for dinner. Then we drove home, we got home around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

This weekend was pretty boring. On Saturday, I went to another wrestling meet this time at Olathe North. This tournament was for regionals, at regionals you try to qualify to go to state. 6A Kansas State Tournament is on Friday and Saturday of this week at Wichita. We had so many guys get close to qualify for state, but only 4 did qualify.

The perfect curriculum would be specific for the field you would want to go to after high school and college. College is the perfect curriculum since you can decide which classes you want and what field you want. The titles would be close or the title of the position or job you might be interested in. I would study sports medicine and physical therapy. In these classes I would learn in class items then go apply it in a public place, like being an intern. These classes would be different since I would have more of a choice and I could get to my field of study easier.

Color can convey a lot of emotion when it comes to designing anything from a product to a website to an advertisement to a logo and so much more. What do you think the importance of colors on a website are? What is a color scheme and why is it important to have when designing? Explain any thoughts you might have around color in design.

The color of a website can set a mood. A color scheme is colors that can match and go together. It is important to have a set color scheme so you don't have a bunch of random colors that don't match. the color gray can go with anything and can make a color pop. It is always a good color to use if there isn't one to match.

Blog Post of the Day:

Think about the quote above. What does this mean to you? How could this apply to your life? How could this apply to your school work (especially Web Design!)? I would love to give you less work in class if it meant you were going to focus harder on the work. Do you think you would get more out of it? Would that work for you? Why or why not?

This means you should do less things and focus on them more. This could apply to when you are doing homework or working on something. If you stay off your phone and computer, you will put more focus on the homework you are trying to complete. In class, again if you stay off your phone you might be able to get more done and it might have better quality. It would get more out of me but it would take some practice and getting used to it. At first, I might rush through it but overtime I might take longer and longer completing items.

This weekend wasn't really exciting. On Saturday, there was a home JV wrestling meet that I went to. Later, my sister had a Daddy Daughter Dance that I helped her get ready for.
After that my mom and I went to Old Town Pizza with some friends and had some really good pizza. I must have eaten a whole pizza by myself.

Oh! This is just a car that I would buy if I had the money. I just really like it and think it looks good!

On Sunday morning, I went to pick up donuts for child care for my church. We got 20 dozen donuts from Walmart. It helped raise money for a mission trip I am going to this summer.

What is a website wireframe? Explain. If you don't know what it is, look it up. Find an image online to place on your blog that represents a website wireframe and how they work.

A website wireframe is a page or screen blueprint. It is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework for the website. Wireframes are created for arranging elements to best accomplish a set purpose. Wireframes are what you want on the website without the information with it.

What do you find the most confusing and frustrating part of web design and HTML code so far? What would make it easier? What don't you understand? What do you understand? Explain yourself.

The most confusing part of web design is the codes. The codes are hard to remember. I know where it all should go but I don't remember every part of the code. To make it easier for me, I would like to have all the codes written down somewhere that I can look at as a refresher. I understand about everything the class does but the codes get confusing.

Tell me all about your 3 day weekend! Share photos.

My 3 day weekend started on Friday since I missed most of school to go to a wrestling tournament at Basehor-Linwood High School and lasted till Saturday around 6 p.m. This is a pretty hard tournament to compete in. We only brought 6 wrestlers to go to the tournament. Only one placed, that was Mason Fuller and he placed 4th.

On Sunday, I just stayed at home and sleep most of the day since I was very tired. I discovered a new song and it is by Fall Out Boy. I have heard this song before but this is the first time I looked it up.

On Monday, I just worked on my homework and then watched the Kansas Jayhawks play Oklahoma at home. Kansas won which I was very happy about.

What are you looking forward to this school year? Include some original photos from your phone if you can.

I am a sophomore at BVHS. I am involved in the school by managing football in the fall and managing wrestling in the winter. This is a jacket I got from my uncle Mark from when he used to play football at BVHS.

I like to manage sports since I want to be an athletic trainer or a physical therapist. My favorite class to go to would have to be either Anatomy & Physiology or Photography. I am looking forward to exploring my options after high school.

What are your thoughts on this class so far? Easy? Hard? Informative? Frustrating? What have you learned so far? What do you want to learn? Explain yourself.

This class has been been easy for the most part. Working on Codecademy is sometimes frustrating trying to get all of the codes right. Remembering every part of the codes we are learning can get confusing at times. I have learned that if one little character is different than what it should be, then it won't work. Maybe after some time remembering the codes will become easier. I want to learn different techniques to make a website function and look good to the audience.

On Saturday, I went to a Varsity wrestling meet since I am a manager for the team. We got back to the school around 6 p.m. For dinner that night, I went and grabbed a pretzel with cheese from Quiktrip. On Sunday, I stayed home and worked on my homework till 2 p.m. At 2, I went to church to ring bells with the youth orchestra and handbells. Read this small newspaper clipping and then write a blog post about it. What are your thoughts? How does it make you feel? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

I think that teenagers do need to do stuff for the community, but as teenagers we need to learn and make mistakes and that comes with having fun with our friends. We should do what we want and make our own decisions. We don't need to always be doing doing something for something or someone else.  Teenagers should learn how to do chores and how to maintain a house but we don't need to take care of everything. We have many things on our mind and many things to accomplish.
